There are so many subjects that are taught at school, but who talks to us about happiness?

This I would say is the most important subject there is,  and yet it is as if the word doesn't exist.

We are taught so many things yet surely unless we are happy, these subjects will have no meaning.
I would like to see Happiness brought into education and discussed in parliament. We give too much attention to exam results and to GDP.
What has either of these things to do with happiness?
Let us start a debate today.
Are we happy?
What can we all do to help bring happiness to more children and adults?
This must be the most important subject there is.
If we all gave more attention to happiness and gave less time to statistics, we would be a more caring and loving society.
Life is not about competing with one another or working harder.
Life is about all of us helping each other with kindness and tenderness.
English, Maths, Science and History are all important, but surely there is space for Happiness too?
Let's see Happiness in the curriculum, please.

Thich Nhat Hanh

Mindfulness is the energy of being aware and awake to the present moment.
It is the continuous practice of touching life deeply in every moment of daily life. To be mindful is to be truly alive, present and at one with those around you and with what you are doing. We bring our body into harmony while we wash the dishes, drive the car or take our morning shower.
